:( that made me both happy and sad. it's sad seeing how hard it is for people to accept others opinions and lifestyles. but i'm very happy that he changed his mind and saw that he shouldnt be the one that makes the choice of how everyone is allowed to live their lives. I would think government would have learned their lesson by now. you really cant have separate buy equal. it seems like they keep trying to pull this same concept in so many different situations.

I was glad to see this Mayor stand up for others and recognize that he shouldn't say who can and can't be married. I wish he wasn't so emotional during the speech I could see officials saying that his emotional state affected his decision and that it wasn't rational. As a civilian though I was glad to see him get like that, it shows that the lives of his community are equally important to him to that of his daughter.

I think that the speech was a step in the right direction! Too bad he isn't in Maryland. The court of appeals decision last week saddened me greatly. 4-3. How can 7 people decide who's important and who is less than? How can 7 people decide what love is? I'm ashamed to be from MD right now.

Its good to see a politician showing his true emotions. Most are too proud to change their points of view. This statement seemed very sincere and its a shame he couldnt voice his true feelings about this earlier in his political career. Then again, he may not be in the postion he is if he had voiced his opinion on gay marriage.

I think it is great that a republican voted for the bill, especially now that our parties are so divided on every issue. I think most republicans forget that this country was based on choice and the seperation of church and state. I think thats why topics like gay marriage and abortion conflict with their moral beliefs. Just because it may seem immoral to them, doesnt mean they can sit back and make decisions that contradict the very foundation that this country was based on, choice.

Although im very happy that this major took the stand to vote for the bill. I wonder if he just found out about his daughter and thats the only reason why? If so its a good thing he is standing by his daughter as we know Chaney did not. But i just wish people could understand that everyone needs to be equal and not just change their mind when they are forced to accept a family member. He said he was for civil unions before and that, and yes, is better than nothing. But to be equal mean exactly what it says. to be EQUAL. marriage and civil unions are in no aspect equal or alike to eachother. Anyway I am glad he took a stand wheather or not it was just for his daughter or he all the sudden faced reality. I hope that some of the people in congress can just look at what he is doing. And realize the same.

Changing his decision means he had a change of heart in this matter. Actually this must of
hit the core of his soul. By the evidence in his emotions, I wonder if inside, he’s still torn? Torn between his daughter’s sexual orientation, by his change in moral or immoral understanding, fear of how his decision is going to play out? Since love is an action, he’s supporting his love for his daughter and other’s close to him. I believe it was his personal convictions that made him change his decision.

if someone wants to marry a person of the same sex that go for it, it is that persons business and no one elses. They should make it a law everywhere for gay marriages. If someone says they are going to make the law and they change their minds, that is not fair to the people who were planning on getting married when the law was passed, that is raining on their parade.
