The Socialization of Children

from: Tabby

My family is made up of 3 girls and 1 boy. Of course girls will try to imitate other girls around them so that they feel accepted. This picture depicts my 8 year old little sister trying to be older. She may learn some things from watching TV and looking at magazines but mostly she tries to imitate what I do. I like things that would be perceived as girly. I love the color pink, I like to dress up, and I listen to the latest music and keep up with the fashion trends .. Here shows my little sister in her room getting ready and putting on makeup to go over a girlfriends house for a birthday party. Notice in the picture the color scheme. Its pink of course. She keeps it very well decorated with girly things, the Hawaiian lays, the dolls on her shelf , the pictures, and purses. These are all things that would be associated with being what is called a girl. Also next to her as you can see are her makeup and nail polish These is what she calls her favorite things, because this makes her a grown up she said. Seeing me do my makeup and my nails and teaching her not intestinally but what I think is a girl, she feels like if she can be like her older sister and do the things she does then she is grown up.
