Can a male candidate be more of a feminist than a female candidate?

A number of feminists are supporting Barrack Obama instead of Hillary Clinton. Read Katha Pollitt's explanation for her decision to support Obama. Which candidate do you like: Clinton, Obama, McCain, Huckabee, Romney? Young people are coming out in record numbers to vote in the primaries. Do you think this will make a difference in the general election? Why do you think many young people have not voted in previous elections?

First of all, I do believe that a male candidate can be more of a feminist than a female candidate. Sex doesn't determine how feminist your policies or beliefs are.

In the upcoming primary, I will be supporting Obama. I hoped to vote for Kucinich, as he was my dream candidate, although it was incredibly unlikely he would win. Although I would like to put my reasons for supporting Obama over Clinton in my own words, Katha Pollit expresses it more eloquently than I could. If Obama does not win the primary, I will vote for Clinton or whichever Democratic candidate wins. Abortion rights and GLBTQ rights are two extremely important issues to me, which none of the Republican candidates support.

Every vote matters, so I do think the amount of young voters will make a difference. I cannot speak for the youth not voting in the past, but perhaps our current president, the state of our country, and changing attitudes involving the importance of activism and politics influence this.

I do not think that there is no relation between gender and feminism. Feminism is a belief and a male can be more feminist than a female.
In this primary, I will be supporting clinton, not because she is a female. A president has alot of things to do and he is the head of the country. If we did not choose the person who is best, we are the one who has to suffer later. I do not think obama is not good to be president, but he is not better than Clinton.
Obama is not as experienced as Clinton. He doesnot have any foriegn policy and he doesnot have enough experience about how to direct the country to the right path. But, Clinton is more experienced and she has a very straight and best policy. She is a poltician in right words.
Many people join her name with Bill Clinton and compare with his presidentship. But I dont think that is good. She is more Talented than Bill clinton and She has her own identity.
I think this primary election is important because it is public's vote. I think all the young people should vote. But they should Know their candidates before they vote. Most of the young people do not think before they vote. They just vote who looks good, who has better style or something like that. So, if they want a better life. they should think properly before they vote.

In my opinion the gender and feminism should not have any role in the field of politics. As for the feminist supporting Obama, may be they have their reasons, may be those feminists' priciple's contradicts with themsemves.May be they know even thought they are feminist that in his male dominate society female cannot be a Commander In Chief Of the Army of USA. that is why they could have supported Obama. But lets put this aside and talking about gender an feminisn, I wont complain about it because just saying that some one supports some issues does not make themselves any greater feminist, and as far as concerned about hillary and Obama. Well Obama is good speaker and Hillary is good yeller. He has a gift or verbal persuasion whereas Hillary would be the first women to run for persidency who is all a senator.(I think the first was Elizabeth Dole but I think she was pulled off so Hillary is first)

I have never voted in any political election before, simply because I never pay attention to politics. My father always tells me I need to get involved because it's my future. However, I always thought someone else will just take care of it all, and it's all just very boring. But now as i get older, I have rexently decided that I will most likely vote, and I am supporting McCain. This is because I'm a newly found Republican, still not knowing much about McCain but I will follow him opposed to Clintin or Obama. I do not think feminism would effect the elections because people must not use it as a popularity thing, but who has the best to offer.

I will most likely be voting for Obama for the sole reason that out of everybody, he seems the most genuine in wanting change. I think Katha made an interesting point about how Hillary doesnt want o look weak, and in the end that might hurt her as it did Bush. Not being able to admit ones mistakes is typically a guy thing, but Obama seems more interested in domestic issues that will bring about change, equality, and perseverance of everyone, not just white men. maybe thats why so many people are threatened, is because he wants whats bes for everyone.
