Today, in our society the younger generation has to work extremely hard at trying to balance out everyday activities and responsibilities. Both boys and girls have to deal with the pressure and stress that comes along with growing up in todays world. The most important responsibility in the younger generation is attending school on a regular basis, while trying to get good grades in order to succeed and move on. Along with school, children love to feel accepted as a part of a group or team. Many kids choose to play a sport either outside of school or actually for their school. Those who play a sport for their school have to maintain a specific GPA in order to stay apart of the team. This puts a lot of pressure on the kids to do well in school so they can feel accepted while at the same time doing something they love and enjoy. Along with trying to balance school and sports, establishing a social life is another main priority. This goes hand in hand with making room for personal hobbies. Some of these hobbies may include video games, going to the movies, and socializing on the phone or internet with friends and family. The number one goal in most teenagers lives is graduating from High School and attending a good College in order to perceive a good paying career so that they wont have to struggle through life. The picture that I decided to take that would capture the story I told above the best was a picture of my 17 year old brother sitting in his bedroom. I choose my brother as the main center piece of the photo because he is a good representation of a normal teenager who is apart of the younger generation. The reason I decided to take the picture in his bedroom was to express the one place children escape to when trying to feel comfortable, relaxed, and at ease. It is a place where one can go in private to do homework/study, play video games, and socialize with friends and family either by phone or internet. This is the reason why I decided to surround my brother with all of those objects on the bed. Each object is supposed to represent the many different activities and responsibilities a teenager must learn how to balance out. The most important object surrounding my brother is the basketball which represents him being apart of the Varsity basketball team for his High School. Learning how to balance school and sports at the same time is his biggest challenge. If you take a look into this picture you will see how the younger generation
is surrounded with trying to balance out so many different activities and responsibilities that in some way are all connected to each other.

This picture and why you chose it really jumped out at me because I can completely relate. Before I graduated high school I was so stressed with balancing school, work, and trying to get into a 4-year College. My room was the ONLY place I could escape to listen to music, read, concentrate on getting my piles and piles of homework done and just relax and take a breather. I like this picture because he's surrounded by all that goes on in his life. I feel the flag is very symbolic because he looks like he's determined to do well to get into Maryland University. Having him work on his homework and be surrounded with school work shows just how much he wants it. He's not looking at the camera, which is also important to me. He's concentrating on the one thing he needs to get done in order to succeed. I know for me my bed was a comfortable place to do my homework so he's still able to relax while doing something that needs complete attention. I think this was really well done and I like I said, I can relate and it brings me back to when I was trying so hard to accomplish my goals. Thanks for the reminder.
