Socialization of gender is a life long process through which individuals learn their self identity and their skills they need to
survive in the society. In this picture I am showing gender identity by this picture of Sehaj, 5 year- old. From this picture we get different messages concerning the nature of being female and acting as an adult. Sehaj is wearing blue dress with pink flowers and she is holding a pink purse in her arm, she is acting like one of the role models in the magazines. She seems very happy and looking far away in the picture, shows that she is looking forward to attain something. One of the question she asked me, when I was taking her picture, if she is going to be in the magazine. This shows how these adolescents intimate people around them. This picture shows how little kids tend to be grown up, and not a little child. Society and mass media has a great effect on young generation.

What I think is interesting is that no matter what country or culture you live in, femininity and masculinity are two separate things with no grey area. I think its funny the girl wanted to know if she was going to be in a magazine...that show you right there that she is already learning that girls in pictures belong in magazines. I mean that is such an odd response for someone so young. And why is she wearing a purse? what is she holding in there...we know it isnt money, or a cell phone, or tampons for that matter...it shows she doesnt even know why she is carrying it, she just knows she wants to fit in.
