This picture of an uncle and his nephew shows the important bond between sports and male toughness at a young age. Though it is impossible for this 3 month old baby to pick the ball up and start running, he will begin to recognize certain colors(green,blue,brown.) and shapes(football,baseball,basketball.) and associate them with males in general. Americans force contact sports on boys at a very young age because we believe that is what they enjoy and where they belong...on the field!

The keywords in this article come at the very end..."WE BELIEVE this is where they belong." How can society determine people's future? How is America a free country if we are constantly influencing peoples out comes? Society already has so many examples of what we are supposed to be...Why do parents have to enforce them? Why does it matter if we know the sex of the baby before its born? So we can go buy the "right" color clothing for them. It's weird to think of someone buying a pink shirt for a boy...yet will that ever be acceptable?
