Disney's Competition

From Melissa

This photograph is describing what a young child's role model should be. The teenage girl represents a strong youth leader. She can be whatever she sets her sights on. Whether it is the President of the United States, a guitarist or even a basketball player she is powerful and she can do it. She does not need a male or beauty to succeed but her knowledge is her power. She is a well rounded individual who participates in sports, practices music and gets good grades. She is successful without dressing up in the pretty princess outfits and makeup. The young six year old child is looking up to a strong role model. Behind the young girl is a world of fantasy that is supported by today's society. The young girl's back is to the fantasy life and she now has a positive, more successful role model to look up to. This photograph was taken at an angle which made the primary focus (the teenage girl) larger. This was done to show the empowerment of this young woman, and her path to a successful self sustaining life. Her life will not require the typical female manipulation (through makeup and revealing clothing) that is taught to today's youth. She is
