Socialization in gender is taught to us at a very young age. The reason boys and girls socialize differently in society is because of the media. Everyone looks to the media to see how we should look, act, and what to do. I took a picture of a girl in her bedroom getting her hair styled by her friend. In this photo you can see that the girl Brittany, is styling Courtney hair the same way. In our society in order for girls to fit in they have to all basically look the same. If you look different from others in society you are looked down upon and made fun of. I included the basket of perfume in the photo, because girls use perfume, where. boys use colon. In the background of the photo you can see a closet, full of clothes, this shows that a girl has to keep up with the latest styles of clothes. When a girl goes to school she is always judged by what she is wearing, how her make-up looks, and how she looks. The mirror is right next to the closet because the girls can look in the mirror to see how their outfit, hair, and make-up looks as soon as they are finished getting ready. So, if they don't like the way something looks they can change it right away. Courtney and Brittany learned to act this way from the media, their parents and from people in the society.
