The Influence of Marketing Media In Gender Differences

From Anuswiya

Are they children or boys and girls? The multibillion dollar clothing stores for children that sell fancy accessories and clothes tend to emphasize more on girls than on boys. It is widely observed that fashion industry and media are inclined toward a girl’s looks and appearance. These big companies spend millions of dollars on designing, manufacturing, marketing and distributing their products to the public, but the bottom line is that their sole target market are girls. If you closely observe the picture I took, the clothing worn by the boys are very effortless compared to what the girls are wearing? Clearly we can see that the girls need way too many accessories than boys, even Hannah Montana will tell you that. Therefore from the very beginning of their life there is a fine line of gender differences between boys and girls. How they should act and what they should wear? It’s the decision of parents on what to provide their children according to their gender. From their early age, girls are quiet, caring, and conscious while boys tend to be carefree, clumsy, stubborn and arrogant. These types of social practices are what are holding girls back. Is this what we want forever? Or we can set new rules and think beyond the horizon.

I definitely agree with this statement. You can see this especially in cartoons and comic books, the girl characters that aren't human are portrayed with an accesory such as a bow or an apron, while men are just plain. If you think about it, there are no accesories for boys, and theres everything imaginable for little girls. Its hard to think of why this is, but it is very apparent.
