The reflections and surrounding scene shows a sense of security, pureness and a warm environment. This picture was taken in an upward tilted angle to positively capture the reflections in the mirror of both subjects. When I was setting the stage, I wanted the viewers to see and feel the sense of security, such as the grandmother holding on to the child's arm and the pureness of a little girl trying to do grown up things while still clinging to her stuffed bunny rabbit. Reading material is also suggestive that it was used for make-up and beauty tips. Cosmetics and creams signify how we can get caught up in a buying frenzy with multiple items that we think will make us look and feel good about ourselves. Blow dryers are also a source of completing the look. My main focus is to show two contrasts to the situation. A reflection of a small child looking up to her grandmother trying to mimic her moves and a grandmother providing security, warmth and a reflection back to her own young years.

This photo is interesting how it shows that showing a grand-daughter how to put on makeup is a bonding experience as well as just a family moment. The little girl holding her bunny show s that she is still very young and still very much a child and isn’t ready to give it up quite yet. At the same time she is learning how to do her makeup she knows that grownups wear makeup and that she should too. Although I don’t think she is at the age were children really start wearing makeup, she is preparing for the future. The Cosmo magazine is also in this picture and I find it really interesting that the Cosmo is also looking the same directions as the reflections, kind of saying that they should reflect that person one day.
