Youth Matures at Young Age‏

From: Caroline

The picture I set up shows how young girls feel the need to conform to society at an age that is too young. In magazines, television, and movies, they see how girls look, act, and dress and feel like they need to be like that in order to be cool. In my picture the mirror takes up the majority of the background because how the girl looks is the most important factor to her. Her image is everything, even though she is still only in middle school. Also, there are beauty protects everywhere on the dresser. There is lotion, perfume, make-up, headbands, curlers, and hair products taking over the area. These items are what the girl needs to live up to her idea of beauty and uses them to try to be like the women she sees on TV. The way she is dressed also shows that she is trying to conform at way too young of an age. She has a very short dress on, especially for her age. She sees girls wearing tight and revealing clothing and that is what she thinks she needs to do to be attractive to others. There is also a coach purse on the dresser and this is a designer bag that a girl in middle school has because she feels that others will think she is cool if she carries around expensive accessories. The colors I used were light and bright and they were colors that girls usually wear. All of these items shown in the picture were bought mainly so she could live up to an image that she has seen displayed publicly and this is her way of trying to be like the girls she sees.

This shows that even young girls are beginning to comform at a young age. Young girls are beginning to wear make up and short dresses. They dress as women that they see displayed in the media. It seems as time goes on this age gets younger and younger.
