This is a picture of my daughter and her friend playing at his house. Both of the children are the only child, the same age, and living in a single parent environment, with the mother being the main care giver.I decided to format the picture by presenting two children of the opposite sex and positioning them across from one another to show the differences in language between the two sexes. As you can see my daughter and her chair are positioned directly in front of her male friend while his chair is placed on an angle and not facing her. Even though the both of them are playing with the tools, my daughter is more consumed with the toys then what is going on around her while the little boy is mostly concerned with me captivating the picture of them. This represents that the little boy is trying to be the center of attention. Not either one of the children are actually talking to each other but their body language explains how little girls language is a lot more meaningful than that of little boys. I also primarily used male gendered toys to show how my daughter was gender flexible when put in a male dominant environment. Her baby doll is laying face down on the floor which shows her preference to the masculine toys over her feminine baby doll. This also shows that my daughter is mirroring the play of the little boy to be just like him. The predominant use of the primary colors in the picture was to demonstrate the dominance of male gender. As you can certainly see my daughter and her baby doll have the only bright colors in the picture. I manipulated the colors in their clothes to illustrate their female gender. The picture was taken on a straight angle to depict that the two children were of the equal status. The symbolism used in this picture was youth in a male dominant environment and given the situation my daughter was able to conform to the opposite gender roles due to her being predominantly raised by me.

Something that really stands out to me is that you can tell that this is the little boys room becuase it is dominately blue and all the toys are typically advertised for boys. The only toy that is not is the pink baby doll laying face first on the ground next to the little girl. This is significant because she is more interestred in his toys than her doll. This is showing us that girls arent only interested in nursing babydolls and what not and that they can and want to do masculine things like play with a saw.
