Gender Role Exposed
From: Chiamika
In this photo of Robert and Robert Jr. at the Disney Store, I captured Robert Jr. holding a barbie doll. I choose this angel to demonstrate that the media or other parents in the store shopping might judge the sons and or fathers behavior. This is the opposite of “How Boys and Men are Supposed to Act”; boys are taught not to show femininity. The father Robert is looking at his son with a slight smirk, not really sure how to react to his son wanting to play with a barbie doll. In this scenario I wanted to tell a story, that everyone does not go by their gender role.

This picture really grabbed my attention, because it caused me to wonder how would my father respond to that situation if that were me at the time. You can obviously see that the little boy means no harm in choosing the barbie doll since he may have not learned the full meaning of gender. The innocents in the boys stare as he gazes up to his father is a clear indicator.
