The media has a strong influence on saying what the ideal woman should be. This is represented by the brightly colored images stacked on the right side of the photo. The way those images take up a whole half of the photograph also symbolizes the large impact of the media has in shaping the ideal body type. The pairing of those images with me trying to look up and away symbolizes trying to avoid that ideal but their brightness and largeness symbolizes that it is hard to avoid thinking about that ideal because it is such a large part of society. The compact way I’m sitting reflects an un-comfortableness with those body images while looking at the blankness of the rest of the photograph represents not having any other ideal body type to look to look up to other than super skinny and trim body type that is pushed onto women by the media.

This photo has captured my attention in many ways. In my opinion the colors symbolize how women see media view and expect them to be, but also realize how much effort and sacrifice women have to put up with to be what society expects them. Many women feel very unconfident about them selves if they don't have something society expects them to have, for example showing skin, putting on make up, as well as taking care of hair. Another way that women might feel unconfident about themselves that I see in the picture, is during the summer a lot don't wear swimming suits because they worry about how they are viewed. Society expects a good looking body from women more than men.
