In today’s society the pressure of looking beautiful and “perfect” is ridiculous. As seen in this picture, many pressures can lead to stress and disappointment for young adults. In this image you can see the young girl looking to try on a dress, but you can tell by what she is wearing that this is not her style. However, according to society young girls need to dress feminine to be seen as attractive. Society pressures young girls to fit their idea of what is beautiful. This often leads to girls having to alter their appearance in order to meet these conditions. This includes wearing make-up. In this picture you can see that the girl is not wearing any make up, but you can see that she has a ton of make up on her floor. On top of the make-up, young girls often feel the need to straighten or curl their hair to be considered a part of what society deems attractive. Girls are even pressured into dying their hair a different color because they think that their natural color is not good enough. Society also advertises to young girls the importance of designer products, such as the UGG boots and Coach sneakers, which are also shown in this picture. This picture especially portrays the negative impact society can have on young adults. This young girl is completely altering her appearance in order to fit in, but yet she is still unhappy.

A common societal pressure among girls is the idea of being “pure.” The white dress depicted in the photo may be interpreted as purity. Often times, women are expected to be innocent and non-threatening (much like this white dress) and thus are thrust with these ideals that they must conform to, or else be categorized as “abnormal.” The young girl is shown to have obvious distaste for the dress, and quite accurately portrays the everyday girl that does not wish to conform to such an ideal. She almost seems crowded by the plethora of “feminine” items by her feet, further depicting the pressures society put onto women.
