What I'm trying to convey with my photo is the forced extreme cultural standard's that are pushed onto women. Almost all media use women as sex objects to sell their products. They create ridiculously impossible standards as to what they consider beautiful. Everywhere you look, images are being forced upon young girls from the media constantly selling their over the top view of what the cultural standard should be.
By creating these extreme cultural standards, they're causing girls to self-objectify their bodies. More and more young women are developing body shame, eating disorders, depression, and anxiety. How are young women suppose to feel comfortable in their own skin if they're constantly being pressured into a media controlled view or what they're currently selling as attractive? The media want young women to feel uncomfortable with their bodies, they want girls to develop low self esteem about there bodies. Would you still buy make up if you thought you were beautiful without it?

This collage portrays women in the media perfectly. All women are seen as being extremely thin and flawless. There is only a small percentage of women who actually fit the description the media gives off. In the picture that shows just the woman's torso you can see that advertisements try and make women out to be objects for men to stare at and fantasize about.
This blog affects me personally. I have always wanted to feel pretty. People have said to me, "oh, you have a beautiful personality" or "you have a nice body"....Well what about my beauty. What about my pretty face! I have told my husband that I wished or even prayed that God would let me JUST BE BEAUTIFUL. I have done a few things to try to heighten my self-esteem and/or even "make me feel pretty", such as haircuts, dying my hair, waxing my eyebrows, putting braces on my teeth, wearing tight revealing clothes and NOTHING IS EVER GOOD ENOUGH. There are probably some psychological issues that are behind the way I feel about my own beauty but I know one thing for sure....sex sells...but these media women only make me feel uglier.
