Title Nine is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity. Before the law was passed women were frowned upon for trying to participate in physically activity such as sports, because it was considered masculine. Through my photo I should how men would have reacted to women playing sports before the law was passed. Before the law was passed women challenged the system by participating in sports. The angle at which the photo was taken shows that the men are higher than the women playing sports. The guys in the photo are interacting in their own conversation while the women is playing soccer, they aren’t paying her any attention. Angles of the photo shows emphasis on the fact that the women playing sports is lower than the men who are superior. The element of angle and the setting of the photo show how when a man or women is doing something out of the ordinary it isn’t really looked into or recognized. The overall message of the photo is to show how much men don’t know how to interact with women who are doing masculine things. The sole purpose of Title Nine being passed was to give men and women equal treatment in social activities. Since the law was passed women have interacted more in sports and now more men know how to react to this social behavior. Discriminating behavior amongst men and women still exist but slowly but surely our society is learning how to react to them. Social norms are challenged more every day and our society is trying to find a way to adapt to these social changes.

The men pointing at the women also indicates that it is a strange phenomena among the men, further enforcing that men do not know how to react to women performing masculine activities. Soccor is a very good choice to represent the historical perspective of separation because women across the world are very well known for their performance in soccor. This further emphasizes that the times have changed, as soccor is now perceived as a non-gender sport.
