This photo is illustrating
“Beauty Is a Beast” and “Self-Objectification”. The girl in this photo is
looking at the magazine of Victoria Secret models while exercising. She’s upset
because she looks nothing like the images portrayed. The magazine page is showing
girls who are very thin and barely have a stomach. This is showing how what
women “should look like” is shaped by society. It starts by ads, magazines,
shows and more having women with skinny bodies, some that are even unhealthy.
Then when you see a magazine with someone who isn’t skinny they’re making rude
comments about it on the front page. This also goes with self-objectification,
due to looking at the magazine she no longer is happy with herself and
appearance.
I chose to do this one because it’s sad
how society pressures everyone to be skinny. When you should just love yourself
and your body how it is. Most of the time the girls who are shown aren’t even
at a healthy weight. They shouldn’t pressure just this one look onto women.

I like this one because it is so true how woman are pressured to be thin and look like models. Woman think they have to get out each morning and go jogging or to the gym to maintain this “thin” figure. While some woman are very in tune with eating healthy and having a fit body others feel there is more to life and loving yourself just as you are.

In this photo what stood out is how the young lady is working out, it seems she is working out to prepare for something. Society say that women prepare for things for beauty, women like to look like women they see on TV, in books/magazines, etc. This young lady want to fit in perfect with society based on the picture.
