In this photo you see two young boys holding guns which symbolize what all young little boys want to be, strong. They stand with their guns pointed and ready showing they are ready to fight to show who is stronger. Being a 7 year old and a 9 year old they have grown up watching the characters on tv to be the strong protectors of the family. They stand with their feet planted and spread apart giving off the impression that they are big and bold. They both want to be the one wins and comes out strongest.
In this photo you can also two young boys who have been swept into thinking that is basically the only thing men are for. These toys have formed their minds into thinking the only way to show how strong you are is to win a war or fight to the death. In all kids shows the man has to be the protector and the provider of the family. Kids are being morphed into what society is telling them to be before they even realize it.
Kids are being given their roles before they can even talk. The colors of their guns also add to this being a "boy" toy had it been pink or purple they would not be playing with them because it would then be a "girls" toy. Gender roles are given to kids so early on in age giving a child no chance really to be what they might want. We show them how boys and girls should act and kids are the best at acting so they play their roles accordingly. Society is has molded and will continue to mold our children through the media and toys.

At first glance, I would have just said that this photo was portraying boys just being boys. One of the broadest terms one could use. What impacts boys to act the way they do and why is it so different from how girls act? Growing up, boys are taught to be the protectors, “man of the house”, and the ones that are supposed to provide for a family one day and growing up, girls are taught to be nurturers and the ones that cook and clean in a house one day. The toys that boys and girls are given are completely different because toys were and are still meant to ready them for their future roles in society. Boys are given guns, Legos, transportation vehicles, and balls. While on the other hand girls are given, baby dolls, make-up/jewelry kits, and play house kitchens. One can just see how drastically different these toys selections are. The boy’s toys are readying them for the military, workforce jobs, and sports and girls toys are readying them for having children one day and being domestic. I like the angle of picture and how the boys are lined up.
