I took this photo thinking that Ashleigh my neighbor is being gendered in a very traditional way by playing with bratz dolls. The doll house is done in pink and in flowers which is the color girls are encourage to love from a very young age and boys I are taught to not to like pink because it is a girl color. If you never noticed there is no boy dolls it's all girls and the boys dolls that do exist are either macho dolls like GI Joe or boyfriends of girl dolls who are usually macho. Girl dolls teach them to be nurting and loving with baby dolls and to be in into fashion, make up and hair for older dolls. For boys it usually a so called guy job like being in the army. Action figures are basically dolls for boys are called actions figures just so they can say there not playing with dolls there playing with action figures. It is okay for girls to play with action figures but is considered degrading or girly for boys to play with dolls. In dolls like Barbie you get dolls like Doctor Barbie or NASCAR Barbie that are doing men occupation but you never see guys dolls doing female occupations. Even though you some dolls doing male occupations the latest trend is that you have dolls as princess such as Swan Lake Barbie or Barbie as the Island Princess. That is what the dolls in this picture means to me
