Typically today's society sees a young girl as someone who dresses in tight seductive clothes portrayed by the young models in the media. But in the picture I chose to take the girl looks the complete opposite with baggy clothes on, trying to fix a car. This is just a young girl who is trying to look comfortable in her own skin and the way she likes to dress. But, to society she would be categorized as looking like a young man, is this right? I believe we shouldn't be trying to
teach children today the way they should have to dress but the way they are most comfortable dressing.

My sister Stephanie, the oldest out of us girls enjoys the same things that males do. My sister goes hunting, works on cars and trucks with her husband, works for a welding company and isnt the most "put together young woman" society things that women should be. People call her a redneck, but she doesnt care. She still posesses many traits that males do, but also has her feminine side. Personally, I think she has an equal balance of both worlds, and its really good not to care what society thinks a woman should be like. Inside and outside she is a beautful smart person, even though she doesnt "act" like a "normal" woman "should". She simply just does what she likes.
To society it is completely out of character for a female, to non't be done up and she shouldn't know a thing about cars. And the sad part about it is, when a girl doesn't have any makeup on and when shes in a hoodie, she always says to be people - as if its a disclaimer - "I look like crap today". I applaud the girls that dress to be comfortable and know how to do the things that 'only guys should know how to do'.
I admire girls and women who are not afraid to be themselves. I think it is great if a woman wants to do a "Man's job". It is even possible for the woman to do the job better than a man is even though I think men would disagree. Women think more practically than men think and have better problem solving skills. Women are just more patient and take the time to figure things out. It would be nice if women could work whatever career they want and not be criticized or put down for it. I mean, who cares what job she picks. She is not hurting anyone by doing a “man’s job”. I think that any woman can do any job as well, if not better than any man can. Women are very strong mentally and often physically. As an example, I used to help my husband install carpets. It was no easy feet to carry 40’ rolls of carpet up and down stairs with just my husband and I carrying it. I have also helped him work on cars, do construction work and I sometimes help him fix things around the house. I do not think its right that some parents restrict what types of activities their children are aloud to do. Kids should be aloud to be themselves. If a little girl wants to play with the boys and get a little dirty, more power to her. If a little boy wants to play with dolls, more power to him. Kids are not born to act or behave a certain way. Their parents program them from birth to act the way the parents want them to. To some extent, children should be able to choose for themselves how they want to live their lives. Some parents allow their children to make their own decisions and their children are raised as perfectly normal, happy children. I think forcing certain gender roles on children hinders their creative thinking. If they are not aloud to think for themselves, how are they going to grow up to be well-adjusted adults?
I too admire women that make themselves into whatever they want. I think it is really awesome if a girl can work on their cars and play instruments, and sports. All that empowers women. I think if more women played sports, they would learn that they dont have to take crap from anyone. If a female has the ability to play in both worlds, they can accomplish more socially i think. I think it opens up there options for friendship, jobs, etc..
