My picture is of a little girl, Who won Miss Baby Sweet Pea. I don't agree with the whole baby beauty thing. I mean why would
you do this to your baby. She doesn't even know what she is doing. Hair has to be done, her mother even took her to get her nails done and asked if her teeth could be even more white. Little girls are already dealing with so much. How much they weigh, is there hair long enough, are they tall enough, are there breast bigger. We have to teach our childern that you are beautiful. No matter if you weigh 100 pounds or 50 lbs. Whether your hair is long or short. Whether your a "A" cup or a "D" cup. you are beautiful. In the Girl Culture website. I thought it was very intersting all the girls were trying to be so pretty. Where trying to look sexy. That is not the image we should be sending to young girls. And i think all of us doi it . This essay is really a eye opener.

This picture makes me wonder why when we're younger being beautiful, was getting dressed up in frilly dresses whereas when you're a teenager the only look you want to portray is being sexy. What happened between being a girl, whose cute, to being a teenager, who has to be sexy.

I also don't agree with the whole beauty pagent thing, I feel as if it makes little girls grow up to be vain - I'm sure this isn't true for some girls - but it seems that it puts the complex that girls have to be pretty always, in ones mind prematurely.

It sickens me to see how mothers dress their babies in these frilly dresses, put make-up on their face, paint their nails, and whiten their teeth. Why can't they accept that their child is beautiful just the way they are. Babies shouldnt have to go through all of these beauty routines at such an early age. They shouldnt be treated like they are teenagers. They should be taught that looks are not everything, and this picture teaches the opposite.

I think this is one of the more distressing pictures I have seen. No doubt she is a beautiful baby, but thats just it, she is a BABY. Im sure she has no idea what the hell she is doing in this picture. I also disagree with the YOUNG girl beauty pagent deal. This is in no way, shape, or form helping this sweet baby grow or learn. This is obviously all of the mothers doing for reasons known only to her. Even though i completely disagree with it, i wouldn't mind hearing the flip side of this story.

Thank you.

I can't believe that they would have beauty padgents for girls who cant even say "Beauty Padgent". I feel as if this childen is being pushed right into an eating disorder. The standards for being beautiful are so high and so hard to reach in our society. I agree that you are beautiful no matter what you weigh, or how you look.

This is the most bizarre picture I have ever seen in my life. It looks like a little baby doll has been just propped up and dressed up and had her picture taken. That little baby has no idea what is going on, except that she is being poked, prodded and made up like a ridiculous little baby doll. Se can't voice her opinion yet, so someone else made a decision that putting her in the pageant would be a wonderful idea. What exactly is the baby going to gain from being Little Miss Sweet Pea? An enormous trophy that she can't carry? Or is she going to gain a sense of self worth and self confidence by participating in an event that judges little babies solely on their looks? Could it possibly be mom that always wanted to be Little Miss Sweet Pea herself? Therefore she is imposing her own wants and desires for herself onto her infant daughter who is too young to even understand what is going on .

This is the craziest thing I have ever seen. This takes beauty pageants to a whole new level. A friend of mine had a niece that was in one of these competitions, Her aunt had pictures of her online so that people could vote for her. It was really weird, I thought it was weirder that everyone was really excited about it. Say she would have won, they would have been putting her in beauty pageants her whole life, which i cant imagine would be very healhty socially and mentally.

I dont think kids should have to worry about such non sense at such a young age. I mean we all stress out now about what we look like now, kids shouldnt have to worry about it too. The best part about being a kid is, being a kid.

Its ironic that when we are young we want to be older, and when we are older, we'd kill to be a kid again.
