Little Boy and Little Girl

from: Ann

After having viewed a few pictures of children i captured on film i saw how children relate to the world around them. In the picture that i chose with the little boy and little girl i seemed to capture them in a sense being inquisitive to their surroundings. Children can be loud and boisterous at times and make a grand entrance obviously but there is an awareness that children can be submissive in stature and aware of their own smallness in relation to others. In the socialization of gender there is the understanding that children in my view identify with their surroundings and are always questioning and learning and wanting to understand their placement in relation to others. Children like to be seen and heard and like learning, that addresses the need in socialization in their gender and how they perceive each other and themselves. From my own standpoint a child sees themselves in relation to others perceptions of them. There is an awareness of their smallness and sometimes their own fear of what their environment teaches them. Again the understanding that children are very perceptive and listen to what the world teaches them.

Thats a very interesting point. I too think that children that are very inquisitive and always in a sense of learning. As much as they may want to be the center of attention, there are times when they can be very overwhelmed by their surroundings. Maybe thats why children are shy in large groups.
