from Kasey:
When taking this picture I felt I was capturing the idealistic conformity little boys are forced to believe is right. After watching the movie Tough Guise by Jackson Katz I started to see firsthand society's part in gender socialization. A common development is that kids end up organizing themselves in same sex groups. Not deliberately but because they share behavioral compatibility. Raising children in a gender exclusive home also is a determining factor in socialization. Children's toys are an enormous factor that shapes the characteristics of what is right and wrong for little boys to play with. Such toys allow violence and aggression. To be tough is the ultimate masculine trait. Even clothes are almost impossible to find to emphasize gender neutrality. It is harder for boys to come out of the gender exclusive box they are put into by society, impacting what they wear, how they act or even what they can play with.

My little cousin has soo many toy guns. thats all he wants is guns. But what gets me is how mean and aggressive he is when he plays with the guns. it makes me a little uncomfortable watching him. he puts them in people faces and shots them. He talks really mean through his teeth and some of the stuff that comes out of his mouth i'm shocked he even knows. Its jus amazing how little boys act with some of the toys they get and how they learn so quick how to be so aggressive.
