Jake not having any sisters his parents still bought him and his younger brother a kitchen set to make them grow to understand that a kitchen set is not just for girls and can be just as fun as a tool set. In this picture it shows that a boy who chooses to play with a female toy can enjoy themselves just as much as when playing with there own type of gender toy. Choosing to play with the kitchen set Jake still went back and forth playing with the tool set showing his masculine side. Jake understands his gender identity but sometimes prefers to take time away from always playing with his other "boy toys" and entertain himself in a different way.

I really like this picture because it reminds me of my cousin when he was little. Around the time he was three years old he would run around wearing his mother's make-up saying "I'm a girl! I'm a girl". We would tell him over and over again "you are not a girl, you are a boy". We would tell him to stop putting on his mother's make-up because that is not what little boys do. Finally, after his consistent refusal to accept that he was in fact, a boy we brushed it off as a phase and just let him think he was a girl. He is entering high school now, and he is your average teenage boy. When we remind him of the days of him running around him make-up and high heels he cringes. Now it makes me cringe to think of making him feel wrong for wanting to run around in make-up. There is no written law saying only women can wear make-up. Boys should be able to play with whatever they want, if they choose the kitchen over the workshop that should be fine.
This is easily the coolest picture in the whole blog space. That kid is going to be alright...haha. I think its crazy that parents freak out when boys put on makeup and they think it will make him gay. kids are going to be gay no matter what they play with. This girls cousin wore makeup and he didnt turn out gay, but ther are plenty of gay guys that like sports. I think its funny he cringes, he should be proud that he did what he wanted to do, even at such a young age.
