This picture seems to say that to fit in you must follow the supposed norms of others. Within the picture it can be noted that all the girls in the center all have their bellies pierced and are together whereas the girl to the outside of the semi-circle has no belly ring to show and is almost not even included within the picture.I think it defines the commonly held beliefs of "gender socialization." quite well. It seems to say that females should follow the norms. And to on-lookers especially young children and teens may look at the picture and think that it is the "right" and or "cool" thing to do rather than be the outcast, like the girl to the far right of the picture

Itc crazy they even something as small as belly rings can really make people stand out or not be accepted. Its also bad for young girls to see this photo and think that the only way they can fit in too, is i if they get theirs done. Its amazing tho think that something as small as that can make a person "normal". I wonder if some day we will look back on belly rings and ask ourselfs what we were thinking, just like tribal tattoos for us guys.
Although the picture portrayed a social fad, I found the picture creative but bright. The flash distracts me very much. But this picture shows us what women will do to get the approval of society and men, this inc;udes themselves. Women loose weight and wear make up to improve themselves. Now they are getting body piercings to try and improve themselves even more when if they looked inside themselves they would see they are beautiful as they are.
