Influenced

from: Amanda

A 19 year old girl should not be concerned with what she looks like; she should be concerned about her education and her future. Unfortunately, that is not the case in this photo. Society and the media have taught this young lady that she should be skinny and be like a model. In most magazines they do not show pictures of young women reading a book. They show more pictures of the latest fashion trends and the newest diet. In the top left corner you will notice that the young lady has put up a picture of a women that is crossed out because she is eating cake. The other pictures that are posted on the mirror are skinny models, so every time she looks in the mirror the pictures will remind her that this is the way she should look according to the media. In the background is her closet full of clothes. This was apart of the picture because young women are not only so fixated on being thin, they are also fixated on how thin they are in their clothes and what they look like. Media influences society and how they should look like and dress, just like in this picture.

I agree with Amanda about education and her future being more important but i think it is important to feel confident and pretty even at the cost of being in gender roles. most people, male or female, cant feel a sense of accomplishment if they are alone. I just think that a healthy balance is a necessity.

I dont think that its healthy however to have models that are way too skinny to be who you look up to and she def shouldnt focus her life around that, but i think its healthy to have a goal of wanting to look better or feel better.

Your career and education are very important to a person or at least they should be. Women have always felt they need to be concerned with other things though and not on their brain. I hope that women can change this in my life time.
