Women Like Adventures Too

from: Stephanie

This picture makes a statement that women can be active in the outdoors. I took this picture from this point of view (using the rule of thirds) in order to show that enjoying a day out on the water is not just a man's activity. You'll notice that I did not include the subject's body in the picture. Whether she is thin or heavy, tall or short is immaterial. I believe that people may overlook the diversity of sports and activities that can fill a women's day. Women, such as this one, love to kayak, as well as hike, camp, and bike. I would call this image "wholesome." Unfortunately, I also feel that some people think that women have to wear makeup and expensive, fashionable un-practical clothes.

You see magazine cover models that look pretty and fashionable. I believe that you can look pretty and fashionable yet practical. In this picture the woman’s hair is attractive yet simple, her sweatshirt is clean, she's wearing a life jacket and she looks genuinely happy. She's a friend of our family, Dotty Doherty.

Some people might say that women aren't athletes or outdoors people. In that case of Dotty, they'd be wrong. I purposefully took the picture from this point of view to demonstrate that women can be active in the outdoors, self-reliant. The really interesting story behind the picture is that Dotty was sitting on her kayak when I took this picture. You see, I'm active in the outdoors as well.

I like the message if this post. I think that women in the media should be portrayed as active as well as much as they are portrayed as sexy. Being active is something that makes you feel good, look good, you have fun, and you have a higher confidence because you do things outside the norm and still have fun. When you step back and look at the big picture, make up and all that jazz is really not that important compared to ones health. the woman in this picture will live a much longer and healthier life then one who is not, most likely. I say good job to the women who are active.

I like this post! It shows that women can be sportive and also at times be eligant and sexy. Women are seen as property and not as an individual who likes to live and have fun.
