I had several photo ideas that I wanted to do for this project, but this picture really jumped out at me. The reason I put purses, make up, high heels, and telephones behind 3 year old Brianna is because that's what society associates with women. It's not very often that you find a heterosexual male with a purse, make up on, wearing high heels, and talking way to his girlfriends on a pink cell phone. In the photo you can see she's looking directly at the camera kind of trying to smile but not too sure what to do. There is definitely a "girl image" being shown here even at such a young age. She has a purse, an older women's wallet in front of her, with a fake pink cell phone and bubble gum. I believe the bubble gum shows that there is certainly still child in her. Her innocence hasn't been taken by the media and society yet. She watches what her mommy does, who is your stereotypical woman; blonde hair, make up, high heels, and big purses. I also found it ironic that Brianna is wearing pink, with a pink ribbon in her hair the day I see her sitting there. Pink is what girls wear. She's just trying to fit in with the rest of the Barbie's in the world.

I believe that this picture says a lot. It shows that girls at a young age seem to want to be "grown." I see a lot of people reading fashion articles and watching "the Real world" episodes to pick up fashion tips which is ironic considering that those shows have nothing to do with the real world or how people *i.e.* girls act. I know a lot of friends who claim they hate pink and hate Barbie yet they are one. I think that society has become so commercialized that girls and guys can not seem to separate what it means to be unique (themselves) or a Barbie(for girls) and action figure (for guys). It seems that they act and dress that way on purpose because they have been exposed to that stuff at such a young age that they believe it is the *norm.*
This is a great photo, it truly demonstrates what females go through all the time. It's obvious she is a girl, why do we have to add on to it with pink everything? Although more and more I am seeing new moms buying neutural colors for their baby girls, pink will always be the color of females. Another good point is how she said males do not have purses or pink cell phones or heels. Why is it that women can wear both tennis shoes AND heels, but men do not have the option. And what ever made someone think that men don't have a lot to carry as well, that a purse would come in handy for? It's all very interesting...and she demonstrates it well!
This collage of photos honestly depicts the way children are brought up today. I believe that kids of today often have so many standards set in place by society that their minds are not allowed to develop without these pressures. She likes pink because she is supposed to like it. Would it be so wrong if a girl were to like blue? Does anyone truly know if she likes pink? It's a shame that society has programed kids to think one way over another. The world would change so drastically if kids were allowed to be unique at such a young age...if society didn't create such strong barriers for them. Even teenagers and grown adults still face these pressures. Would it be acceptable for a man to be walking down the street with a pink blackberry in his hand? yet why not? After all pink is just a color isn't it?
this shows that it is from a very early stage in life that girls look up to older females and immitate them and already know which toys they should play with and which ones they shouldn't
I thought this was a good idea to have the girl center and everything going around her because it’s more of what she is thinking about. She probably looks up to her mom and other women in her life and sees the things they wear and what the Barbie’s wear that she plays with and thinks this is what she has to do. Society has made such an impact with this from the media and toys that little girls and boys play with.
