Check out these statistics compiled by the Women's Media Center. Are you surprised by these statistics, or is this what you would have expected. Why do you think the Women's Media Center thinks these statistics are a problem?
It seems that women are still not be given fair chances at political positions or top corporate office jobs executive positions or even in the medical field as I see and experience everyday women are still being kept back and this needs to change numbers and statics don't lie.
As I see it, women have made some advancements but we have a long wany to go. Women are coming out of their shell and being president, ceo's,and doctors which was not heard of a decade ago. Change takes time but it is happening.
I think that women have definitly had an up lift in the statistics. Women are starting to speak uo for themselves and not letting men walk all over them. Women are making their way into politics and the media. I agree with cathy in will take some time, but it will eventually get there.
This really surprised me. I definitely agree with WMC that these statistics are problem, there is hardly any representation of women in the media. Are we even really moving forward at all? It seems like the numbers are hardly changing over a 5 year period.
The life as a women has changed alot of the good in the past year's, but we still have a long way to go. Women can get a job and vote and do what ever they want to do. but women still don't make the same amount of money and get the highest positions has men do. but change is working its way, today we do have women running for president and ceo's.
Everything takes its time to grow and women are emerging in the media and publishing field but very slowly. There should be more women and infact we have seen quite a change now. So, lets hope for hte best.
I think the reason why the Womens Media Center finds these statistics a problem is because as a woman it is extremely difficult to climb the corporate ladder in the media spectrum. If I were to pursue a career in this area, I personally would like to know some statistics like these so I know what I'm about to get into. However, I dont think the article mentions if the numbers are low for women because there simply arent as many women pursuing this career field as men.
I’m surprised at the statistics and I agree they need to change. But I don’t know how these statistics could change. I feel there are not as many women in the work force. Look at the statistics for stay at home fathers.
