I choose this picture because to me it shows child socialization. Child socialization to me is when everything from colors to their clothes to what they play with at home makes the child who they are. That even though sometimes its not noticeable, our children are effected everyday by the society. The picture says to me about gender socialization that it effects everyone. Not just the grown ups who deal with having to get up early to look great, but little kids. The picture shows how even young kids are effected by our culture due to television and magazines. Girls even at a young age think that having all these “fancy things”will make them stand out and look better. From the coloring of her dress to the jewelry on her neck and fingers to the eye patch on her eye. I took the photo so that the rings on her finger would be brighter than the rest in the picture to emphasize how big and bright the rings are. In our culture today, women feel like they need to have rings that are that large and bright. This photo to me shows how children are effected from our own society.
