The image that I chose to take a photo of was found in my fourteen year old sister's room. She was getting ready to go out to the mall with friends on a Fridays night. I had gone in the room and saw her sitting on her bed with a opened magazine and makeup scattered all over the bed and asked what she was getting all dolled up for. She told me she was going to the mall with her friends and then she proceeded to put on her makeup. My sister gets her hair and makeup ideas from magazines like the victorias secret models who look perfect after hours and hours with a hair and makeup crew. The reason my sister wasn't in the picture is because she refused to let me take her picture when she was not all ready. At fourteen she's already wearing makeup and trying to achieve the impossible "perfect look."

i think it is sad that girls are becoming younger and younger when it comes to them being obsessed with thier looks, and being obsessed with what the meida in society is obsessed with how women should look.
it is really sad to see that young girls think that they need to look a certain way. it really shows how much the media and commercials play a role in how young girls percieve themselves.
These are things that girls need to beautify themselves. I feel sorry for the females who go through all this just to make themselves look better. What about the inside beauty?
I think that magazines such as the Victoria's Secret catalog and other rag magazines are a poor influence on young girls because they give them false ideas of beauty. I think it is really sad that girls as young as 13 and 14 already feel the pressure to achieev these false beauty standards.
Obsession with looks is becoming more and more common as society keeps "uping" what is beauty. Keeping up with things such as beauty tips are hard for any woman to handle. Ideal beauty is unrealistic in society these days because there is always something bigger and better coming out to up that product you have. Majority of these products make people look older instead of younger so they continue to buy the products for results.
I feel like its unfortunate that young girls feel like they have to look like the models do. Even though when I was younger I did the same things, as I got older I watch my little sister do the same things. Young girls have alot of pressure put on them to fit in. Often times trying to be like the models causes harm to the girls. This is why young girls develop problems such as eating disorders. The media makes them feel like they will only be pretty if they look like this
This is disappointing to see how the media has englufed kids younger and younger each day. Kids are growing up too fast, wanting to look like the models in the magazines. At the age of fourteen, you're still developing, and still look like a little kid. Most children used to just accept this, but not anymore. The youth is really wasted on the young, because kids don't want to be kids anymore, they want to be adults.
The fact that girls buy into this idea that all these things are needed to being pretty, to being accepted, is ridiculous! Come on girls, if you aren't good enough the way you are, what's that say for everyone else? You wouldn't tell your best friend she wasn't good enough with out these things, and the same applies for you! Although these things can be fun to have sometimes, they are definitely NOT needed, and some one needs to let these girls know.

This picture is great because if you looked at most 12-16 year old girls rooms these days, this is exactly what you'd find; everything young girls think they need to be beautiful.
Young girls shouldn't have to think that in order to be beautiful they have to put on makeup and do their hair perfect. They need to know that things in magazines are in there because they are just magazines, none of those people look like that truely in real life. The media really does take a toll on the youth and what they think you should look like.
