In the picture, my sister Kellie, age twenty one, is in all camouflage, about to go practice shoot targets in the woods with my dad and brother. Kellie is very strong willed and independent, and does not give into typical gender socializations of most teenage girls. She is looking down at the camera slightly, giving a friendly smile. This shows that although she is holding a gun, she is by no means intending to use it for violent purposes. The slight downward angle of the camera shows that she is being confident, but not too much so that it comes off at butch or conceited. If you look closely you can tell that she has on makeup, her nails are painted and she is wearing jewelry. When I asked how she managed to dress so unlike that of what most teenage girls would dress, and do such activities as target practice, but still manage to be feminine, Kellie replied, "I have a Mom and Dad, sisters and brothers. I like to spend time with all of them, and I'm confident in who I am so I don't need to be overly girly to prove I'm a girl, and I'm not afraid to do masculine things because deep down I know I'm feminine.
In the picture, I put Kellie, as the largest, most centered object. I did this to show that she is in control and confident in what she's doing, and how she's dressed. I have her eyes hidden to add a mysterious aspect of the picture, because the feminine aspect of Kellie is kind of being hidden for the most part in this picture. However, I have her smiling to maintain a friendly, not threatening vibe to the picture, so that viewers are in no way intimidated by this girl in army clothes, holding a large rifle, which is often times not a comforting sight. I used the background as my deck, instead of the woods to show that she is not all the way comfortable with going out in the woods and hunting, and although she's involving herself in a masculine activity, she draws the line and still keeps close to safety incase of danger. This picture is important to girls and to gender socialization because it shows girls that you can do all kinds of activities without losing your femininity.

This picture depicts a perfect example of what girls want to prove to society. In our society women often hold back doing certain masculine activities because they do not want to be seen as “tomboys.” They sometimes feel that judgment will automatically be placed on them if they are able to do what men can. Women are forever trying to prove themselves to men, that they are able to do things just as well sometimes if not better. Unfortunately, in our society many times women are looked down upon when performing certain skills. They are immediately helped when something seems too hard. This picture shows the young women in an army outfit that can be worn by males or females. This shows that she is confident in herself to be able to wear this and hold a gun. Having little details like jewelry, finger nails being painted, and even showing some of her blonde hair adds the perfect amount of femininity, yet still showing she is perfectly capable of doing a more masculine activity.
This picture really caught my attention. it shows that girls can be just as touch as guys and achieve in a type of work that is mostly or known for male dominance. But at the same time she isn't losing femininity, by showing that the girl is wearing make-up and jewels show that she isn't on of those girls you at touch and make them-selves look like one of the boys to be able to fight in. The girl in this photo is showing she is capable to do masculine activities and proving that she can do things that men can do, and she can still look good doing it.
i like this picture because i actually think a lot of girls have a feminine side and a maculine side of them but because the media in our society only show girls as being feminie most girls only do that. so to those girls who arent afraid to show both sides of their personalities its great.
I see in this picture a girl with definite self confidence and belief in herself to be able to be a part of society with what she feels she wants to do yet seeing that she doesn't have to lose her feminity. Unfortunately in todays society women are frowned upon if they don't fit the female role but in this picture she still has her feminity about her with showing she can also be strong as a woman
This is a great picture to show to the public that women can not only be sexy and pretty, but we also have another side to us. Even thought the girl has no thought of shooting the gun to hurt someone, if you just saw this picture without its write up you would think she is in the military and could be a marks "women". That is truly out of the social norm.
This picture is one of true inspiration because it truely goes against the norms of what a woman should be like. Women try so hard to equal the playing field with men that this here shows that women are capable of doing anything that men can and still be a woman. She seems that she is confidetn enough in her sexuality that stepping out of the box and doing something she loves is worth it. Alot of girls should take this into account that they can be a girly girl and still have a rough side to them and be a woman.
This is a great picture because it accurately shows that girls can be "tough" while still being feminine. Even though society hasn't totally moved away from it women are being more accepted when they can do things just as well or better then men. This picture doesn't look forced at all, she looks totally comfortable with herself in this outfit, holding a gun and thats important cause in order to for people to take you seriously you have to be confident. Today women have to be confident to get men to take them seriously.
I really liked this picture because I think all girls have a feminine side and somewhat of a masculine side. We all like doing things that are associated with “boys”. It’s fun to go shoot things with your guy friends or family members and why not do it with jewelry and make-up on to just be yourself. You can tell that she does not care what people thing because she is confident in herself, and that’s how all girls should me .
