This photograph is of a 20 year-old, female synthesizer player named Natalie, performing at a local concert. As you can see, she is not the ideal "girl" that society expects. The reason why she is a huge symbol for this picture is because she is basically rebelling against society's cliche image of the typical girl. The short hair, pretty loose t-shirt, and skinny jeans show that she is trying to be her own person rather than conforming to the norm. The angle that I chose in this picture represents the shift change in society's ideal image of women. The black and white in the picture represents the two opposites in society: the stereotypical and non-stereotypical women. In the right-hand corner of the photo, you can see another girl standing there, watching the performance. Notice that her appearance, from what you can see, is much different than Natalie's. The girl has a good amount of skin showing and her top is tight as opposed to Natalie's apparel, which is the complete opposite. The girl in the corner represents how the media is still affecting many young girls on how they dress. The reason why the girl's head is cut off is because I wanted to show that from the neck down, that's all that society defines in a woman or a young girl.

The picture is good because this girl does not fit the mold of what society wants and that makes people uncomfortable, and so does the angle of the picture. The black and white makes the viewer focus on the subject, because the colors are subdued. However, the girl in the corner is the opposite of the subject, because she is showing skin, is tan, and looks like she cares about her appearance more.
I like this picture a lot because it shows the other side of the girl. They typically are the girly girl but this shows a punk-rocker who doesnt care. She does not want to conform to societies image of a girl. The black and white tones gives the picture a contrast to society. Every other girly picture is bright and full of color. This picture is dark and gloomy.
this is interesting because usually a guy is in a rock band. you rarely see women in a band or playing with a guitar. the colors in the picture are very interesting too, the color black is a very dark and emotional color. but i agree with some of the other comments, she is more worried about her apperance.
I found this picture interesting because it shows how girls can do boyish things too such as play in a band and have shorter hair. The black and white photography gives you the feeling that not everything has to be glamerous and females dont have to be the same.
