This photo captures the innocence of a child. The photo implies comfort by portraying a child with a doll. The idea that the child is asleep implies freedom from judgment. The context, in which this photo can be viewed, is oblivion to the world and perhaps even worldviews.
The doll plays an important role because it is not a typical commercial doll. Because the child’s body and clothing are not shown, the gender of the child is not obvious.
The sunlight shining on the hair adds an angelic element of a beautiful human person laying in a pose of trust. The placements of the hands provide the main focal point. They appear to be intertwined; yet at the same time they both face an opposite direction.
The texture of the blanket provides a definite contrast to the softness of the child’s face and the smooth face of the monk doll. Because the blanket is textured, not soft and smooth, and has a splash of red, it breaks up the possibility of a thought toward something “feminine”.
The overall content of this photo is emotional rather than intellectual. My intent and hope is to evoke a sense of peace; moreover, to know that this is “just a child”.

This photo caught my eye because it was not the typical photo with a girl trying to act "girly" or a boy playing some kind of sport. Bonnie explains that she not only want to show to gender differences in the photo but that we criticize how a child should act in day to day life but in the end it is "just a child" I believe that this photo is a great representation and has a lot of meaning.
This picture stood out to me. I think the child is very precious and innocent looking asleep. No one can judge her because they cannot tell what the doll looks like or what it is wearing. The face is a little creepy though, it looks like an alien, just with that fact i think anyone would think it was a little boys doll. But who really knows.
This picture does capture the innocence of a little girl. Though the doll she has in her arms is not the usual girlie type of doll, this can be considered a normal way for a little girl to fall asleep.
In case anyone returns back to this site, my photo "Child Sleeping" is of a little boy (my son) and not a little girl.....
mai pen rai :)
In the picture little boy looks truly innocent, it is apparent from his surroundings that he has yet to be gender socialized like he will mostly likely be very soon. This picture has no present elements of gender socialization; the little boy is covered up in a pink blanket. This, as everyone knows, is a color that is always associated with girls; he also has a doll that looks relatively gender neutral.
This picture was very different then the other ones. This shows you that a child will be a child, she likes what she likes and she is not worried about what other people are doing or playing with. She is perfectly fine with playing with things that makes her happy
This photo was strange to me because it portrayed the innocence of a young girl. But I don't think it showed the socialization of gender.
