I took this picture at this angle because it shows the rough features a boy would have and the delicate features a girl would have. This photo show how at a young age boys are taught to ignore pain, they are taught that if they show pain it is a sign of weakness. The little boys cast in the photo shows how physically rough boys play. Boys are commonly told that when you fall get back up. Boys think that it is not okay for them to be hurt so they work through the pain. This photo also significant because it shows the way a girl should look depending on the social generalization of a female. Girls are usually dressed in skirts because they are expected to sit and play with dolls. They are told to act like ladies and are punished for behaving like boys. The way the children are dressed , their hairstyles and physical features distinguish the difference between the two. This picture shows how gender socialization expect the to look and act.

I can see this picture being used to show gender socialization from a young age. The fact that the boy has a cast on his broken leg and doesn't appear bothered by it could either indicate that he's been wearing it for a long time or that he really is feeling it hurt but doesn't show it because that's what he's been encouraged to do. While the idea of having the camera at a different angle be taken so that it can show the difference between softness levels in boys and girls, it doesn't really seem to do much outside of showing them at something other than straight on. Your ending point, while good, seems to conflict with what you said in the line before it. “The way the children are dressed , their hairstyles and physical features distinguish the difference between the two. This picture shows how gender socialization expect the to look and act.” Wouldn't the clothes be the bigger difference between the two, the boy wearing obvious 'tough guy' shirt with jean shorts and sneakers while the girl wears a nice non-threatening dress with sandals? Wouldn't that go further towards proving how children can be socialized very early at young ages than weather or not the boy shows pain from a who knows how old injury?

Looking at this picture from a different point of view, one could say that these are two happy children. Though the boy has a broken leg, the smile on his face is an indication that he has come to accept himself as the masculine gender that must not express pain or that he has come to accept pain as part of being masculine. However, from every indication, the girl is smiling because she is enjoying all the care and comfort bestowed on her as a girl. This is the very essence of her dependence on the masculine gender for everything.
