One of the things we will be looking at in our first unit is inequality in the United States. Statistics show us that race, class, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, and religion affect people's access to money and power. Cornell University designed a "Inequality Quiz" to measure how much you know about these issues. Take the quiz here.
How did you score on the quiz? Did any of the answers surprise you?

My score was farely good better than i thought it would be, and yes some of the answers did surprise me.
I only got a couple questions right and I feel very in the dark about a lot of the topics.
I was especially surprised about the results of the law opposing racial intermarriage. In 1982 33% white and 7% black compared to 2002 when the percentages of white changed to 10% and black 5%.
I only got 5 of 12 questions correct, which I feel shows I don't know much about the statistics or issues regarding inequality. Sadly my score is around the 20% of others that have been quizzed. The incarceration question surprised me the most!!
My score wasn't that great. Almost every answer to the questions shocked me.The incarceration one and wage difference questions were really surprising to me.
I know I did not do well, but I did not expect to do that well. Some of the questions surpriesed me, for example the results of law opposing intermarriage. But others I could shrug off and accept. Like with the major increase of racial discrimination fileed in the work force.
I wasn't suprised that I pretty much got all of them wrong. It saddens me to learn about poverty so I try to stay away from it but all of the numbers suprised me.
I didn't do very well on this quiz and i was surprised with most of the answers. I wish these statistics would be discussed more, so the general public could be more aware of these issues.
My score was not very high. Majority of the answers surprised me especially the racial discrimination in the work force. These statistics need to be brought to the public eye and something needs to be done.
