From Cortney
This photo represents girls wanting to fit in. Girls go through so much in trying to please society. When they please society, they succeed in pleasing their selves. American culture and society put a lot of pressure of girls especially through the media. Girls are pressured to be more feminine and beautiful. In American culture, the skinnier you are the more beautiful you are. How much girls go through to fit in is presented by the clothes on the bed. Trying to fit into the jeans reflects that girls suffer to fit the expectations of society. The environment in the photo is all pink. There are pink walls, a pink bedspread, pink carpet, and she is wearing a pink shirt. American culture views pink as a female characteristic. Beauty and being feminine is the main focus of girls in America. This leads to eating disorders, which is of course mostly characterized by girls. This picture portrays the results society has on females. Society socializes pink, femininity, and beauty with females.

I also think that the stuffed animals in the background still show that she is a little girl at heart but because of all the peer pressure she feels that she should look more mature and look like she's older.
This girl is trying to fit into a pair of pants that are too small for her. She feels that if she fits into these pants she will look thinner. She will also feel thinner. This will make her feel better about herself because this is how society portrays beauty.
When girls fit into a size pants like 2 or 4, we feel good about ourselves. It makes us happy that we are skinny. This girl is obviously squeezing into pants that are too small for her. Our society has made us believe that we have to live up to certain standards, like being skinny, in order to fit in. The unrealistic images that are set for teen girls distorts the way that we should be looking at ourselves. We shouldn't focus on what we lack, but what we have.
