Girls Can Do Boy Things Too

From: Taylor
This is a photo of a young girl named Kayleigh holding a fish that she caught. This photo was taken to show that not every girl has to conform to gender labels. Many people are gender bias in today's society. Fishing is seen as a male sport like most outdoor sports. Kayleigh is learning how to fish from her father and no one is judging her for doing it. The angle of this picture represents that girls can do boy things too and it not be seen as inappropriate. The clear background shows that she is being raised without gender labels affecting her lifestyle.

I really like this picture because it shows how "normal" it is for a girl to be a "tomboy" and do boy things. By saying that it is "normal" to be a tomboy, then why does society put a name on girls just because they play outside like boys? I personally like how you show how comfortable she looks doing something that our society thinks only boys should do. Even the background in this picture is not the stereotypical place where a girl should even be. This picture would not look unusual in my family, but it is definitely out of our society's norms, which I like a lot.

I agree with this photo and again here's is where the influence of parents come into role. Parents are there to help children with the many pressures society hands out to them.

I like this photo because the young girl is comfortable with who she is and what she does. Keeping children away from the media and letting them experiment with different "gendered activities" i think will help break gender socialization and roles.

This picture reminds me of me when I was younger. I grew up with an older brother who loved to fish so I wanted to learn. Girls shouldn’t feel bad about doing “boy’s activities” if they enjoy it but society has made it pretty clear what boy and girls should do.

boys arent always good at everthing girls can do anything they want and shouldnt be judged at doing it. I have girl cousins that go hunting because they like the out side experince.

Many believe that girls are incapable of doing things that boys can do and this picture shows that this is not the case. Girls are able to do work that men do in all aspects of life. This picture shows that girls should not be limited in the kind of work that they do. Men and women are equally capable of doingthe same jobs.

This picture greatly describes, girls can do anything boys can do. In this photo, the scenery shows the outdoors (typically a guys world) with a little girl who caught a fish. Its normal for young girls do explore things such as the outdoors, although women and young children are generally seen to be playing with dolls or kitchen play sets. I feel this photo proves girls can do anything guys can do.

I think that it's really important for parents to instill in their children at young age that they can participate in any activity no matter what gender it is associated with. Limiting children to activities typically within their gender can cause children to grow up thinking that things should be one way and this can limit them to other things later in life.

Girls should be encouraged to do anything they like. This picture really captures that. But it begs the question, why is fishing a boy thing?? Girls need to eat too.
