Getting into shape, who really has the motivation? Young teenage girls everywhere are self conscious about the way they look and the way they feel. Starting at a very young age girls compare themselves to things they see everyday. In this case, a young female found one of her mothers workout magazines and becomes fascinated. Along with other very young girls, they see how beautiful older skinny girls are and wish to be just like them. Sometimes girls even take drastic measures in which they go on diets try to look like these aspiring women. Physical appearance plays a major role in the lives of young teens. Generally looking good and staying in shape, or being skinny is basically the over all issue, when naturally little girls really shouldn't be even worrying about this at all. In this photo the magazine that this girl is holding symbolizes the fact that loosing weight is one of her top priorities of being confidant and feeling good about herself. The bright usage of color on the magazine, and also the fruit and vegetables in the blender stands out as a sign of the importance of the photo in this case the main idea, eating little to nothing is the "key to looking good". Throughout the entire photo the same colors are used, the cabinets, the wallpaper, and even the table create obvious detail towards the blender and the magazine showing its importance.

I know that a lot of girls relate to your picture. Self esteem usually goes way down when the women in the pictures are seen and compared with our own bodies and looks. What really surprises me about your picture is the girl. She really doesnt seem like she needs to lose any weight. She is fine as is but because the women in the pictures dont have imperfections thats what she is striving to become. This is obviously dangerous because most of these women are airbrushed. They have imperfections but the final product comes out flawless and thats what the readers believe.
This picture displayed what girls in our culture our really focused on. Girls today are mainly concerned with the way they look. I thought this picture portrayed that really well. I like how the girls face is hidden behind the Shape magazine. This could symbolize that the standard for all girls is to look good. The girl in the picture did not need to lose any weight, but obviously she thinks she has to thanks to the media. This picture represents how harmful the media can be to girls and their perception they have of themselves.
Context matters! There’s a difference between cosmo and the useless garbage it pushes and a magazine that promotes healthy living. We have to be honest that being overweight results in shorter lives, greater health problems, and is more likely to result in an unsatisfying lifestyle. We should not degrade those that are trying to teach us healthy things to do.
This photo represents a large majority of girls as young as middle school aged children and woman in adulthood. Because of media girls develop serious problems with their bodies because they can not achieve the super model look.
This shows how girls have this desire to be in great shape in order to impress people. They see these girls in these magazines and wanna be like them. They will go to great lengths just to look good for the public. They feel if they impress people than they will be liked.
