One of the things we will be looking at in our first unit is inequality in the United States. Statistics show us that race, class, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, and religion affect people's access to money and power. Cornell University designed a "Inequality Quiz" to measure how much you know about these issues. To take the quiz click here and then click on "Take our interactive quiz."
How did you score on the quiz? Did any of the answers surprise you?

The quiz was fun and exciting I was able to learn new interesting facts about the U.S and even the life expectancy for those living in Africa. I enjoyed the Inequality quiz, I decided to take some notes so I could remember the facts. I hope other women from my women studies class enjoy it and hopefully they will take notes so we can do some fun activities with the quizzes from the blog.
I don't think I got one question right which goes to show my skewed percetion of equality today. I was shocked that 1 in 9 blak men go to jail and so few people graduate college with a bachelor's degree in four years!
After taking the quiz I felt the same as Amanda because I got most of them wrong. I knew that race played a part of the statistics but I never knew how much. I found it chanllenging after each question becuase so many of my choices were far off.
The quiz was very interesting. I only got 4 out of the 12 questions right. I really never knew how much of a major role inequality really plays. After taking this quiz i am now informed and know so much more about inequality then I did before. I encourage everyone to take this quiz.
I did horrible. I got 4 out of 12 right. What also suprised me was the fact that the amount of people that got only 4 right was the higest group. I definitly learned that my perceptions of things are most likely wrong. Over all the quiz gave me a lot to ponder on the subject of inequality.
I really enjoyed this quiz. I scored 7 out of 12. Honestly, I am surprised that I got 7 correct. This quiz is important because in a very small way it gives you a glimpse into the bigger picture of inequality. It makes you think. It makes you want to be more AWARE.
I was actually surprised at how poorly I did on this quiz. It really opened my eyes as to how in the dark I am about the inequality issue. I only got three questions right and while I was taking it, I thought I knew more. I was wrong. I was shocked by most of the answers to the quiz. I was shocked that for the African American males that go to jail are 1 in 9. That is crazy. I think that this quiz did show much just how important of a role race can play into inequality.
When I took this quiz I was shocked at how badly I did. I only got 4 questions right out of 12. I had no idea that inequality rates were that bad. Or how race really plays a part in inequality. I learned out of new facts and really had a fun time taking this quiz.
As we approch the end of our class, I was very frigthen to see how much I understimate the changes we have gone through the last copuple of years. I only got 4 questions right and I found alot of things that shocked me. First the fact that the jail population has triple in size in 10 years, and most of the innmates are youg kids. Sencondly the fact that the pay gap has only change about 51% , and finally the fact that people still experience segregation at the work place. Who would have thought that at this day and age things like this will still happened? it is very sad to see that eventhought we have progress in technology some people's brains still in the 1800's.
This was an interesting quiz, it was almost as fun as the first quiz we had during the semester. I got a low 4 out of 12, so I've definitely got my research cut out for me but, what amazed me about the quiz is the 51% wage gap and the fact that 1 in 9 black men have been incarcerated is definitely embarrassing being a black woman. This quiz definitely opened my eyes to the unfairness that is being done according to race and gender.
