In this photo, you can see that two-year-old Branden is already learning where he belongs in terms of gender and what he wants to do when he’s older. Branden's refusal to take his brothers helmet off is a big sign that playing football may very well be in his future. Branden sees his brother play football so he wants to play as well. In terms of gender socialization, Branden is falling in the typical gender role as a result of his social learning. His gender role is learned through the reinforcement and encouragement he receives from his family. Also, besides the focus on the helmet, the poster on the wall obviously shows that Branden is not in his own room. This implicates that Branden is hanging around older boys (in specific his cousin), which will strongly have an affect on his gender socialization and perhaps even his behavior in the future. Lastly, the picture was taken looking downwards so that Branden is looking up at the camera, implicating how he looks up to others as his role model.

I believe the poster in this photo represents more than just him being in an older person’s room. I think the poster represents that smoking marijuana is what older people do as “cool.” The poster is bright which draws attention to Bob Marley. His face is taking up the whole poster which shows his power. “One Love” to the child could mean the love of smoking, not a reference to the song. Being in his older cousin’s room shows that he is trying to grow up too fast. The child holding the helmet shows how children want to be like their family and will do what it takes to be like them.
I believe that the child is learning his gender roles early in his life instead of trying to deny them he is embracing them and showing that he should do manly things when he gets older as well as learning some things he should not do i.e smoking shown in the picture on the wall by bob marley
I beleive that the boy wearing the helmet is showing how he wants to be just like his older role model. The picture in the backround is something that may not be significant to the little boy now but because he wants to be just like his brother he may be influenced to get into other things that arent postitive. This is a great example of how the media or even just role models can influence people whether its a positive influence or a negative influence.
I found this photo interesting because it shows us at what a young age children are being taught how different gender's should act. In this 2 year old's case he's being taught how to be masculine and aggressive before he even knows what that really means. Also, his face is right up in the camera which is showing his dominance as a male. Something else he has been taught without realizing it.
