I chose to deal with the subject of girls learning adult roles. I choose the young girls face to be obviously apparent in the reflection of the mirror because as she is relaxing watching a cartoon she's faced with the view of her mother applying makeup. The mother is epitome of womanhood to the young girl; therefore, seeing these noticeable differences gives doubt to the young girl. The mother applying makeup teaches her what is needed of her to be considered a woman by society standards. The reflection of her face in the mirror is one of self doubt, she knows that there is no makeup on her which will inevitably lead her to apply makeup in the future so she will ultimately feel like a woman. While her mother is looking at her own reflection, she is unaware of the flaws that her daughter is picking out due to the fact that her mothers reflection differs immensely.
