Where do I fit in the Picture?

From Lisa
In this picture is a young girl named Audrey, who like most little girls like to play dress-up as well as play with toy dolls. If you take a closer look at this photograph it is much more complex than that, you will notice Audrey holding a make-up brush and that the background contains common objects that we associate with girls and women like Disney princess movies, purses, elaborate dresses, and Cosmopolitan magazine. I chose to put Audrey in this setting to show how women are always being controlled by the media whether it's through a Disney movie or through an article in a magazine. Women from a very young age are shown different images of what it means to be a woman and are constantly trying to figure out just where they fit within today's ever-changing society. I also chose most of these objects in the photograph because they are bright and colorful, which today's society tends to associate with being feminine.
