Photos are an amazing thing and the way we are able to manipulate them in this day and age have come a long way from what you could do before. In this picture I wanted to highlight how women feel the pressure of society to look flawless. Taking a seemingly already beautiful girl and then transcribing the picture into societal acceptance. Women often feel as though they cannot bear their own look and that they must use apps and filters to enhance their beauty. I wanted the photo to remain in color so you could see the difference before the original photo and after. The left side of the photo underwent many drastic changes, from enhancing the flawless ness of her skin, blemish cover-up, and even slimming the side of her face. Amazingly the media does the same thing to women. Beautiful women’s photos undergo an extreme amount of tweaking and airbrushing before they hit the front cover of a magazine. The center of the photo also exhibits a line from meshing the two photos together which I decided to include so it showed the drastic change of the before and after photos. More and more women are deciding to alter the photos that they put on social media, internet, etc. to meet the pressures of society.

Very true! Just think about Instagram. There is the option to lighten, sharpen, and flip your photo. It seems as if society does not expect people for who they are but they will expect them with makeup, edits, photoshops, etc. I believe there is a lot of natural beauty that goes unnoticed because of how society and media analyzes who is beautiful and who is not.
