My image focuses on the Glass Slipper Effect (pg. 220) where girls are “waiting for their prince charming”. As a result of this, women tend to be less educated and have lower standards set for their education level, careers, and leadership positions. My image shows a young girl (age 9) looking at magazines of the “perfect woman”. Flawless and airbrushed, the young girl feels that she needs to fit the mold and become the perfect woman. If she can become beautiful enough, she can eventually attract a man who will take care of her for the rest of her life. In the photo, she pushes away algebra and geometry textbooks as she looks down at the magazines and makeup. This shows how the Glass Slipper Effect discourages women from having dreams and ambitions. The toys behind the girl symbolize her childhood and portray to the audience that she is still a young girl who is being subjected to beauty standards so early in life that her childhood is literally behind her.

This picture could also go with how girls are associated with the color pink. Behind her most of the stuffed animals are pink as well as the writing on one of the magazines. Then, her shirt also goes with the color scheme. This displays the girls wear pink or have pink things to display they're girl. Also the way her head is position and her facial expression could possibly be showing her analyzing the new "beauty standards" that society puts on women.

This photo is a good example of “The Glass Slipper Effect”, I say this because the young girl is clearly awaiting her prince charming. Also, in this photo I see that the bears in the photo can symbolize toy and activity preference. The bears are pink that can represent gender socialization. This photo also shows the pale color of the carpet that shows that the color of the carpet can’t really describe the sex or gender of the person.
