When I think of the color pink I automatically think of my sixteen year old sister. When I look at her and her friends I feel like I'm watching Laguna Beach or some reality TV show about pretty girls whose lives always seem perfect. I wanted to capture that by taking a picture of her superficial life in a nutshell. Now before I start picking at my sister, I just want everyone to know that she is a great girl who has a lot going for her but needless to say she gets caught up in the media's portrayal of how she should look and act. She loves the color pink which is shown as the wall color and in her pink dress. This tells a person of how much of a girly girl she is. There is a Coach purse directly under her dress which tells you that probably all of her friends have them too and having a Coach purse lets others know where you fit in, in high school. There is a bebe bag which is the store that
she got the dress from because and I quote, "I have to have the perfect dress for the dance." The other things lying around are just the accessories that make her feel more like a beautiful woman. There is also a picture of an Abercrombie model on her wall which are the kind of boys that she likes, but in reality we all know that most guys don't look like that. Just by looking at this picture you can already stereotype her and figure out what kind of person she is or might look like. The boys will make comments on how she looks like a model and so she feels like she has to keep up with making sure that she always looks good because she can't let others think differently of her. She wants to be like the women on the TV, the rich and the famous because let's face it, it seems like the only thing society really cares about are your looks anyway, right???

I think its awesome that someone else sees the problem with Laguna Beach and the picture perfect life. I dont know why people want to be like that. Those peoples lives are so shallow and so pathetic. I donbt know, i shouldnt be so hard on them, but i have real problems and bills to pay. Watching these shows where people largest issues are what color their mercedes is going to be drives me nuts. Its shows like this that make our country look so stupid. America is not what we see on TV, but thats what people think. I had a couple friends from other countries and they told me before they came over to America, they thought America was like the Hills and Melrose Place. Its sad that people strive to live like that.
