This picture displays the gender stereotyping of most little boys and girls. Here a boy and a girl sit on the floor in front of a
slide which is accepted in both genders, or not classified to one or the other. The slide is bright and accepting much like young children. The boy sits and plays with a truck while the girl sits next to him calmly holding her baby doll. People see it as normal when boys play with trucks and cars and girls play with baby dolls. The little boys’ facial expression is action filled, so imaginative that he does not notice anything going on around him except for his playing with the truck. The little girl sits so solemn next to the boy caressing her baby doll, caring for and holding it close. The little boy is dressed in a bright colored shirt with a collar and nice khaki pants, typical for a casual dressed male. The little girl wears a white shirt with pink flowers on it and black pants, a more subtle outfit. The clothing almost depicts that the boy is the majority and should be the first to be noticed while the girl sits quietly with no expression waiting for her turn to be noticed. It is almost as though the boy comes first and then the girl comes second, which many see in today's society. This picture is so stereo typical. Boys are expected in society today to be the ones out working on the trucks or being outside. The girls are supposed to be the ones in the house taking care of the children and cleaning. Looking at this picture you can tell that even at a young age children are beginning to realize their place in the world and what is acceptable in their genders. If this picture was switched around and the boy was holding the doll and the girl was playing with the truck it would not be accepted in today's society.
