I took this photo to represent an under aged girl, about sixteen, whose innocence has been lost. The idea of sex at such a young age can seem so glamorous and like a fairytale to a girl so naive. This photo gives an example of gender socialization in a way that if young boys have sex at this age, they are given positive reinforcement and supported by their peers and those surrounding them, though for young girls such as the girl in the photo, they are often humiliated and feel ashamed because they are harshly judged and given negative reinforcement by society. Sometimes this is the sad truth which many girls experience the hard way, the feeling afterward may leave young girls feeling shame, dirty and full of regret. In this photo, the young girl is in bed with sheets surrounding her after having sex for the first time. Her head is down and her face is not exposed as her mind fills with shame and regret. She is the only person in the photo, meaning she is alone and secluded with no one near to comfort her, the boy she was with did not stick around. The sheets are a deep red color to represent a sultry and deviant feeling which has overcome her. There is also the white bra off to the left side of the photo which is there to represent the innocence which she had soon before the act took place which she had then lost. Finally, I decided to apply a certain filter onto the photo which not only brightened the specific colors within which should be recognized, but also shows how dramatic this event was for the girl in the photo.

This picture does a really good job at representing how a young girl may feel after having sex. Girls get called names and are judged in a bad way when their peers find out they've had sex at an early age and it can be really dramatizing for them. I can see how girls can learn to think that sex at an early age is acceptable because on tv some shows have girls in it that are all about having sex and don't show the negative sides of it. The girl is looking down in shame and regret because of what she has done and what others will say and think about her. She clearly is not happy with what she has done but she can't go back and change it.The colors are dead on and are what really make this picture what it is. The majority of the picture is red, and red usually is a seductive, sensual color so maybe that's how the girl was feeling before she the act had happened, but then the white bra suggests that maybe the girl left her innocence behind when she took her bra off.
I didn't even have to read your explanation about the picture to not only know what is being represented but also feel the emotion expressed by the girl in the picture. Her shame is very well shown with her body language, really brings life to the photo. Also, the colors and symbolism are right on point. Red and white- the bra- the sheets- all good portrayals of innocence and innocence lost. I really loved this photo.
Innocence lost was a great title for this picture. We can see that this girl is very young, most likely the media plays a big role in her life. Today’s adolescents believe everything they hear and see on TV, magazines, posters, etc. Many movies and articles talk about young girls having sex and becoming mothers at such a young age. A TV show unfortunately only shows the pieces that they want the viewers to see. They try to portray an image that having sex is this amazing and pleasure full event when in reality it’s not. Most of the young girls these days don’t have sex because they know they love someone and want to spend the rest of their life with them but because they are pressured, don’t want their boyfriends to leave them, or are competing with their friends.
This image portrays the classic morning after; alone, feeling regret, and disappointed in herself. The direction of her head is down showing shame and humility. She is grasping herself which shows lack of protection basically a cry for help. Red, which is the color of the sheets she is using to wrap herself in is a very emotionally intense color. It can lean toward love just as easy as it can lean towards danger. She is the only person captured in the image to show that she is all alone and on her own to deal with this. The choice to change the picture from its original color to this was smart because this seems to give off a more dark and daring as well as passionate approach. One thing is for sure the white bra is off, all innocence is lost..
The effects on this photo make it very powerful and dramatic. The young girl sits alone in the bed after loosing her virginity and it is quite obvious that she regrets it. The red blankets suggest the sultry and "stained" act that took place in them. The girl's face is hidden, suggesting the shame that many girls feel after their first time, especially if the guy doesn't care enough to stick around. The white bra tossed to the side suggests the object that covered her and protected her innocence has now be removed and her innocence - now lost. The photo is a great example of the double standard facing men and women. If a man was in this photo, then they would be happy and perceived as a stud. The girls however are seen as sluts or whores. All together this photo shows the drama and sadness that many girls feel because of this double standard.
There are many things that young woman now and days think that they have to do because it is socially accepted, what they do not understand is that losing the virginity at a young age is seen as great for men but once a woman loses her virginity she is seemed as easy and a slut and a whore. The color to this picture seems blurry, the girl in the picture is clearly ashamed at what she has done. And this is how many girls feel because they know what they have done is not socially accepted and is frowned upon. At school guys will try to get in her pants and even use her just because she is "easy". Goes to show the double standard society holds. The bra in the pictures I see it as to show that she felt she was a woman, that she felt she was old enough to have sex. She is now covering her body and holding tight to the sheets, making it seem that she regrets doing this.
This picture shows how a young girl may feel after loosing her "innocence." Many girls feel pressured to have sex at a younger age by the media and their peers. Girls are having sex at such a young age now that many girls end up feeling lost. I did not even have to read the essay next to the picture to understand what the photographer was trying to get the viewers to understand. The girl is looking down in the photo meaning she feels lost and alone. There is a white bra in the corner of the picture. The white bra represent's how she was pure before she took it off. Overall this photo shows how many young girls feel after loosing their virginity because of what the media says.
Tis does a wonderful job of showing us how when girls lose their innocence how they are feeling afterwards. As everyone knows that when a boy loses his innocence most of the times they are given positive feed back. ffor example, sometimes the dad is the main one that gves them this positive feed back. He dioes not show any disappoint but say if it was his daughter the mom and the dad would be negative about it. Because they would feel as though they lost their little girl. But wouldnt care about their son as much because thats manly and expected of him.
