Society tells us that to be popular, girls must dress a certain way, look a certain way and act a certain way. One must have straight hair, look skinny and dress to impress. Movies, magazines and Hollywood make a big impact on the way girls want to see themselves. Most stars and models are skinny, tan and wear the latest fashions no matter the costs. It seems that in todays world girls want to look and act older then they really are by wearing tons of makeup, dressing in designer clothes and spending all their money and time on the way they look. What happened to watching cartoons and having sleepovers? At what price are girls willing to fit in? It seems that all girls want now is to fit in and get noticed no matter what the costs may be.

I can relate to this photo because I am a girl and understand that I do like to look my best. It is not that I care so much about what others think, but that having pretty hair, nice makeup can make your confidence higher which allows may allow you to be more social. I think young girls may take it to an extreme because they have not come to understand there identity as much as an older girl in her twenties who is more comfortable than an adolescent.
This is a very common scene in my household, with four girls trying to share a bathroom. The stereotype that girls take hours in the bathroom, isn't much of a stereotype with my sisters - it's everyday truth! This photo is relatable to many girls for they too go through this daily ritual before school, forcing them to wake up hours before which sometimes sounds the alarm at 5 in the morning! I really like how the faces are not identifiable - one girl showing the back of her head, and one with only her profile slightly visible being blocked by her hand applying make-up. Because of this, the girls to me don't look ANY different from the 1,250 girls in my high school and I believe that this is very noteworthy. Though many not concious of their conformity, and thinking that they are dressing in the styles that they like themselves, it is important to observe that the personal styles that they like themselves are principally trends. I could mistake them for my sisters easily...wait..is that..?
It is a common fact that people of today don't care about the costs or struggles they have to go through in order to look good. Yet if everyone is trying to reach the same expectations and the same look then why are we all created different. If we are all striving to be the same what makes us different from one another. Society as a whole needs to start focusing on themselves and not what everyone else wants them to be or to look like.
